the best secondary transfer standard for gas flow measurement. Canada
Pipeline Accessories Co. Ltd. Manufactures to flow measurement standards
such as; ASME MFC 3M, ASME MFC 7M, ASME PTC 6, ISA 1932, ISO 5167
or any other design. Canada Pipeline Accessories also manufactures
ultra accurate nozzles having a patented throat design providing
extremely stable mass flow rates and clearly definable choked operation
in sizes from 0.001" to 24" Throat diameters.
Sonic Nozzles can also be used as over range protection for positive
displacement, Turbine, and Orifice meters as well. Advantages of
nozzles when used for flow limitation; are predictable low pressure
drop and repeatable operation. The flow meter will not be exposed
to flow rates which can damage the meter at any flow rate or non
steady flow scenarios. Flow limiting orifice plates - although very
popular are simply unsuccessful in this application.
Other useful applications are; Range extension of meters - by changing
pressure at meter, Noise control - move pressure drop location from
control valve to nozzle, More environmentally safe than flow rate
control valves which vent, especially sour service.
